Bloggers Unite!
The good folks over at blogcatalog have put together something quite post worthy. It’s called Bloggers Unite. A collection of bloggers coming together to bring public awareness to many of the social issues that plague this world we live in. From raising awareness for cancer, to an effort to better education systems locally and abroad, to support for 3rd world countries, and so on.
The idea they have is an excellent one and one I would be proud to participate in. If each one of the bloggers across the world (and according to the technology experts at Gartner [as reported in Wikipedia], there was 100 million bloggers who regularly maintained their blog in 2007) came together to blog about a particular social issue, all on one day, the world may just become a better place.
As of this writing they have stopped their regular challenges, for now, (originally the project was just a short term thing). You can however, still go to their site and participate in member generated challenges from; stopping animal cruelty and pet abuse, to putting and end to Japan’s whale hunting (this one doesn’t even have one singe reply since it was first posted 22 days ago
), and more.
The sad thing is; there are only 933 members in the bloggers unite group. That’s not even 0.00001% of the bloggers out there. I ‘m writing this article in hopes to help add to that number. I read a LOT of blogs and I almost NEVER see anyone doing anything to help anyone other than themselves.
While most of the time it really is best to look out for number one, I encourage you to take a moment every once in a while and write about…. Whatever makes a difference
