An easy way to get free backlinks (with high Pagerank)! Boost your SEO!

March 6th, 2008 · 51 Comments · All, Humor, Marketing, SEO, contests, technical

Get PR4 and higher backlinks with ease (well, kinda)…

This one is easy and oh, so sweet… But, if you use the following advice, please DO NOT COMMENT SPAM! Take a minute on each blog you comment on and READ IT, you could even subscribe to their RSS feed to really show appreciation (do it via email so they can see you subscribed).

Google Page Rank ExplainedWe all know that having links coming into your blog from pages that have a high Google PageRank will help you to achieve better search engine results. This article will help you gain those all important backlinks.

Find blogs with a high Google PageRank

Google Page Rank

First, download this PageRank viewer plugin for firefox: Http://pizzaseo.com/firefox-pagerank. It will show you the PageRank of any site you are currently viewing. More on this in a sec. If you use I.E. do a search for “Page Rank plugin Internet Explorer” and you’ll find something similar.

Now, do a Google search of the following term:

“your target keywords” “Remember my personal information” “Notify me of follow-up comments”

So, if your blog was about Blogging Tips, you would enter:

“Blogging Tips” “Remember my personal information” “Notify me of follow-up comments”

If your blog was about personal finance you might enter:

“finance advice” “Remember my personal information” “Notify me of follow-up comments”

You will then find lots of relevant blogs that allow commenting. Remember; the links that point to your blog should be coming from relevant sites to really give them SEO value.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for .edu blogs with high PageRanks - those are worth GOLD!

Of course if you find a PR6 or higher site that allows commenting and they don’t have the nofollow attribute it would be beneficial to have a backlink on that site no matter what the content.

Start clicking on the search results. On each page you will see their PageRank in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. Pretty much any blog that has any rating (1-9) is beneficial to have a comment on, but you need to make sure they aren’t applying the “nofollow” attribute to the comments, otherwise your comment and backlink are worthless (worthless for SEO, they may still bring you traffic and it’s always beneficial for any blogger to leave/receive good comments).

Just say No to Nofollow!

Nofollow or not?

Go to a comment and copy the name of the person who left the comment (tip: highlight the name with your mouse, then hit “Ctrl+C” to copy). Next click on “View” in your browser, and then “Page Source” (or hit “Ctrl+U”) to see the actual HTML of the page. Then, on the screen that opened with the source click on “Edit”, then “Find in this page”. At the bottom of the screen “Find” with a little text box appears. Paste the name you copied (hit “Ctrl+V” to paste) in that box and firefox will automatically find that text.

Now if you see something that looks like this you should leave a comment on the page: “<a href”http://www.acmerockets.com” target=”_blank”>THE NAME YOU COPIED</a>

If you see: “<a href”http://www.acmerockets.com” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>THE NAME YOU COPIED</a>” Then move on - unless you’ve found a good blog, then you may want to read it!

That’s it, you should be able to find plenty of great blogs with good page ranks to comment on. This will be GREAT for your search engine results and will undoubtedly bring you some traffic too!

But remember…

No Spam

DON’T COMMENT SPAM! Leave relevant and insightful comments - NEVER “good blog” or similar… If you leave lame comments its more likely the nice person who allowed you to place a comment on their highly ranked blog, without the nofollow attribute, will be to add the nofollow. Plus good comments will also attract people to check out your blog, so the better the comments, the more likely it is people will take the time to come see your blog!

Hot Tip
One sure fire way to get at least one backlink on a PR7 site is to put up a profile on http://www.squidoo.com, plus you can generate some good traffic from them (And just FYI - I’m not getting a thing to promote them - I just think it’s a valuable resource to help you promote yourself!).

If anyone has any other good tips on how to get great backlinks please leave ‘em in a comment and share them with your fellow bloggers!!! Thanks!

I am not sure that i follow. I am new to all of this. Why do i need to download a Pagerank viewer?
Why can’t i just do the” Your target keywords” “Remember my personal information” “Notify me of follow-up comments”, won’t it still work the same? I will give it a go though and see what happens.

    Kim,

You want to download the pagerank (PR) viewer so you can see what the PR is of the blog your commenting on. You could do it with out the PR viewer, but then it’s just a shot in the dark. Remember, a backlink on a page with a high PR is worth many links on pages with no PR.

Hi, I started to think of this idea(backlinking) myself. I am kind of new to this, but was trying to “crack” open some secret code. I stumbled upon a page called wordsdeals and purchased some words(as backlinks), then started thinking…hummm..maybe this is a really good idea. So I surfed with the words “Great backlinks” ( I never even heard the term backlink before a few weeks ago) I found this site and now I am going to get into it. Who knows, it may work! -Joy

Like your blog 22 who commented your blog and I’m one of them. When i read your blog, I see that it’s really interesting and informative. Good again!

Blog commenting has been filtered in the latest Google update. Google will filter too many too fast comments.

Ty Hurd reply on May 13, 2008:

Interesting to hear. I wouldn’t suggest blasting out tons of comments every day either way - pace yourself. This was one of the tactics I used and my PR went from 0 to 4 in the last update. I actually had the 0 PR within 3-4 weeks of launching this blog (and a PR of 0 is different than a N/A PR), using this method (among others).

I’m curious where you get your info regarding the update? Not that I don’t believe you, but Google’s so tight lipped about their algorithms I’d love to learn a reliable place to get info on them…

I agree, it’s sad when they comment spam you. I didn’t post this idea with the intent of people spam commenting. As it’s stated in the top of the post, I don’t endorse SPAM… If you use this trick responsibly it can be very handy and can also result in gaining readers and contacts if you leave relevant, thoughtful comments.

So to anyone out there that plans on commenting SPAMMING - DON’T BE AN ASS AND LEAVE SPAMMY COMMENTS!!!!!!

You don’t need that SEO plugin, all you need is the Google Toolbar to tell you the page rank.

Or actually I’d also recommend getting ’search status’ it displays the Alexa ranking of websites as well.

But, good blog by the way.

I had the nofollow removed for a while but for some reason I get HAMMERED with spam - the akismet plugin has caught over 3k spam and I’ve only been using it around 2 months (better than a captcha as it allows trackbacks). I seem to get less spam now that I’m nofollow but I’ll likely add a plugin for the frequent commentators so they get a little link love…

I checked out your site - nicely done! I stumbled ya (and I was surprised that I discovered your port and that it hadn’t been stumbled before)

This is a great idea, but a cautionary note: Bloggers who use web analytics software will be able to see this search query attached to your IP. Most blog software attaches an IP to comments. If I saw someone arrive and leave a comment for this type of query, I’d assume they were soft spamming.

If you don’t want to seem like a spammer, better to copy/paste the website address into a new tab than to click on it directly from Google.
