Oh, the mighty wrath of the lonely Stumbler…
As I’ve posted about in the past, StumbleUpon can be a great way to drive traffic to your blog. I don’t advocate “SPAMMING” them, however, it’s perfectly acceptable to promote yourself within the Stumble community if you do it responsibly. Don’t do SPAMMY posts, and If they’re good, you get more traffic, if they’re bad, nadda.
Here’s what some fine Stumblers have had to say about my blog:
From stumbler: thungurknifur
Well, well! Another splogger clogging up the intertube with his meaningless rambling about blogs, SEO, link exchange and other things that NO ONE except linkwhores, sploggers, spammers and SEO’s would find the LEAST FUCKING BIT interesting.
From stumbler: twatbadger
Fuck off you marketing blogging asshole! Go lay in a puddle and fellate the third rail of the metro. May a “hurd” of badgers gnaw on your jugular while 1,000 goats clog dance on your genitals.
From stumbler: goatboy77
“I’m just a sucker for free publicity…”
Please allow me to help.
If you loathe blogtrash traffic whores as much as I do, drop by Ty’s blog and let him know how you feel.
If you have a favorite insult or a particularly nasty gem you’ve been holding in reserve, this is as good a place for it as any.
Choke on a used tampon!
Ouch…
Well, you can’t expect to have an impact on a lot of people and please every single person every time. In the last 26,000+ visitors, the comments from the SPAM patrol above are the only negative comments I’ve received. Either way, they’re good for backlinks. Goatboy77 is giving me links from a PR4 page. And, creating a little controversy can’t be bad for traffic.
My goal for this blog is to get thousands and thousands of links for traffic to originate from, and that’s all a bad comment is. One more place for someone to find you… Only 179,992 more to go ![]()
I also think people like those above have way too much free time to run around criticizing people, while not actually creating anything themselves. Didn’t spot a websites or blog among the trio. Awful quick to ramble on about how the internet should be, but I don’t think they really understand how the internet actually works. They sit around drinking coffee and reading Bukowski and want every page they stumbleUpon to fit their idealistic mindset. If they ever decided to contribute to the internet other than by posting comments using a free, and idiot proof service like Stumble, they’ll be the first in line to check out this blog.
Speaking of Bukowski, it’s kinda ironic he once said:
“An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love artistic and expressive websites & blogs (I’m also a professional photographer, see: www.TyHurd.com), but marketing, SEO, business and the like is what I focus on here. If that’s not your bag of tea, then stop coming.
The moral of the story is: Don’t be discouraged if some self appointed net cop gives you a hard time. Take out out the good comments you’ve received and focus on those. You’re success depends on you being able to see it as reality. Focus only on the good, brush off the bad.
Like this blog? Sweet! Wanna help a guy out & buy me a cup of coffee? If you liked this post,do me a favor and
Stumble it! Thanks!

Hey Ty, you are right on point with this one. Any idea where the goat’s pages link from? I could sure use a few PR4 backlinks just for stepping on the old toesies…

This was a great post. I had something similar happen to me as well. I also got a PR4 backlink so I really could care less what others had to say. There are a lot of people on the internet and you can’t please all of them. The key is just to keep it going and ignore the negatives.
