Blogging for a cause

I did a post a couple months ago about the Bloggers Unite group on blogcatalog asking my fellow bloggers to participate by joining the group and by lending their voice to bring the social issues that plague the world we live in to the forefront of the net. When I did that post the Bloggers Unite group had only 933 members, today they have 1189 members.

It’s a sad thing to see this group has only grown by a meager 256 members in two months. I mean jeeze, Johnchow.com has increased his RSS reader base by twenty times as much in the same amount of time. I read his blog all the time and have yet to see him post about anything for a greater good (no offense John, I really dig your blog). It’s time to use a collective voice to do something for people other than ourselves.

So, here I go again… On May 15th Bloggers Unite will be joined by Amnesty International in an effort to draw attention to three specific topics:Human Rights In China, Illegal Detentions at Guantanamo Bay, and the Crisis in Darfur. On this day you’re invited to help bring attention to these atrocities by posting your views and feelings on them.

If I can persuade only ten people to join this movement today, and those ten each move ten more to join tomorrow, and so on, in only one week we’d have ten million people calling for change. It’s the collective voice that can really make a difference. Individually your voice maybe muffled but collectively your voice is loud! So speak up!
