Get traffic from Blogrush - even if you don’t use their widget!

Get absolutely free traffic for nothing in return?… Yup.

Many of you have likely heard of Blogrush and I’m guessing a lot of you don’t use ‘em. I did, but only for a week or two to give their service a fair shake. After realizing I was getting diddly squat in the way of traffic from them while giving them a huge portion of my sidebar for their widget I dropped ‘em like a hot plate.

For those that aren’t familiar with Blogrush, its a form of syndication service that displays relevant content on your blog via a widget. You display other blog’s posts, and in return your posts are displayed on other blogs. The more views the widget receives on your blog the more credits you receive to have your posts displayed elsewhere. Kinda like a link exchange. Sounded like a decent service to me, but my conclusion was it was just a huge waste of space on my sidebar.

Okay, Blogrush is lame - why are you telling me about them?

So why am I writing about them now? Well, I was just looking through my referring URLs from the day and noticed I got a couple hits from Blogrush today. Huh? I no longer use their widget and I’m not earning credits to have my posts displayed on their network, so I headed over to their site to investigate.

Upon a little diggin’ I realized that I was still earning “bonus” credits. These are credit they give to blogs with a low amount of traffic to help give them a boost. I knew about the bonus system when I had the widget but figured once I removed it I would cease to receive these bonus credits. Well guess what? I’m still earning them! In fact, I’ve received exactly 3,829 bonus credits in the last 30 days. Each credit is good for one display of a post, and there are 79 credits in my account at the moment so I’ve received 3750 impressions (displays of my various posts) for FREE. This is a nice little bit of free branding.

After going through my stats I see those 3,750 impressions resulted in 39 hits. While this ratio sucks, its still free traffic, and I love free traffic. At this rate I’ll get 468 hits from Blogrush in the course of a year - all for free. I would estimate it took me three minutes to set up my account, tops, so that works out to 2.6 visitors per second of my time. This is a great ratio.

For the sole reason you can get traffic for merely signing up I recommend you do. Even though its not a lot of traffic its these little things that add up. If once a day you add a way to get only 50 hits a month, after the course of a year you’d be getting 18,250 hits a month without having to do any promotion or marketing! This is how you build up a huge amount of traffic.

Blogrush also has a referral program so if you refer anyone you get a percentage of their earned credits (I highly doubt you’ll get a % of their bonus credits ;-) ), but some people like ‘em so you may end up earning even more credits on top of the free bonus credits. Who knows…

Take three minutes and get yourself a little extra traffic. If you can do it often, you’ll build an empire!

this one sounds good. besides, a friend of mine recently recommended one more tool for free traffic, from blogupp.com
that one doesn’t require signup, and uses the feeds in combination with the picture of the site, which is interesting as well
