May progress report!

June 3rd, 2008 · 2 Comments · All, TysBlog.com progress, alexa

And the numbers are…

Here’s the total breakdown for May:

  • Total Visitors for the month of May: 26353
  • Total Page views for the month of March: 72687
  • Alexa:
    • 3 mo. average: 136,506
    • 1 week average: 63,221
    • Yesterday: 97,589

My Alexa ranking is getting better everyday.  Just what I wanted and although my goal was for an average of less than 110K I’m happy with 136k.  Alexa hasn’t been updating as often as they used to and I’m thinking when they do update next I’ll break my goal.  I’m on the right track for sure…

The rank beat my goal by almost 15,000 (my goal was 35,000 or lower) so I’m super happy with this, and authority is 24 better than my goal. This is a HUGE improvement over last month.

This is 7,406 links higher than my goal of 18,000, and when I checked it on the 1st it was over 29,000.  Yahoo’s figures seem to fluctuate kind of wildly for some reason.  Either way I’m well above the goal for may.

  • RSS subscribers: 178.

34 subscriber’s more than last month - and I was at 205 a couple days ago. The number fluctuates as it’s really only based on how many people “accessed” your feed that day, not total subscribers. I’d say pretty much right on goal.

This beats my goal by $400 and is right on track!  If you look at the DNScoop stats on my blog you’ll see what I’m talking about regarding my backlinks.  Their starts show me having over 29,000…

All in all, I’m pumped on my progress for May.  I pretty much exceeded all my goals and am on the track I anticipated.  Good stuff for sure.

I’m going to hold off a few days before announcing my June goals.  With the Top Affiliate Challenge coming up I want to figure that traffic and exposure into my numbers.  I’m also waiting to hear about a potential endoresment that would also help this site’s stats too.  Once I have all the data I’ll need to set accurate and realistic goals I’ll post them!!  Stay tuned for that… Should only be a couple days…

    Ty,

First of, congrats on the great stats and beating out some of your goals.

I am curious though how you come up with the numbers for your goals. I’m in the very beginnings (< 1 month old) of a blog and would like to start setting some realistic goals for myself.

    Thanks a lot,

    Kevin,

    First off, thanks!

I look at my trends and the trends of other bloggers first. If at a current rate I can expect to achieve a certain level of progress in any given area, I’ll figure what more can I do to bring it up by 10%, 20%, or whatever I deem realistic based on available resources and any ideas I may have to improve it. A lot of it is just good guestimating though. Just make sure to keep your goals realistic, but also high enough to see real progress. If you fail to make a goal, it’s not the end of the world and may just motivate you to work that much harder. If you fail to ever reach a goal it could be discouraging, so find a good middle ground and aim realistically high (but always high)!!!
