Increase your PageRank - a few simple tips to get it done fast!!!

July 2nd, 2008 · 9 Comments · SEO, design

It’s all about the links

As most of you know, the more links you have pointing back to you, the better.  Besides being a vehicle for more traffic, more backlinks will increase your Google PageRank.  The higher your PageRank (PR) the better your Search Engine Result Placement (SERP), and the more traffic you may receive and the more “value” your blog has in terms of selling ad space to potential advertisers.

A blog with a PR 5 or higher can charge a healthy amount for links because they offer more link juice for the advertiser. The reason for this is because the higher the PR of any given site linking back to you, the higher your PR will become.  So if you have a lot of sites/blogs with high PR’s linking to you, the higher your PR will be.  Make sense?

Here’s some tips to help you get your PR up as quickly as possible:

Start building links from sites with a high PR themselves.  Here’s a post I did on how to get high PR backlinks easily and for free (it does take a little time, but if you spend 5 minutes a day doing this you’ll have thousands of backlinks from sites with a high PR in just a couple months). Be sure to target sites/blogs that have relevant content to your blog/site.  The more relevant, the more you benefit.

Use the “nofollow” attribute whenever possible.  For any links on your blog that you don’t care if you’re giving link juice to, add the nofollow. Site’s like Google, Yahoo, etc., these guys don’t need the link juice.  Also be sure to add it to any affiliate links you have as you can be penalized for “paid” links, so be sure the spiders aren’t following these.  And for the noob’s this is what the code for your link might look like (using Google.com as the link example and anchor text):

<a title”Google.com” href=”http://www.google.com” rel=”nofollow”>Google.com</a>

Submit all your posts using SocialPoster.com. This is a good idea just for the potential traffic you can get, but it will also allow you to single out the social bookmarking sites that are nofollow free so you get the most links juice possible.

Link internally. Google likes sites that link within themselves so when ever possible, link to other posts you’ve done that have any relevancy to the new post you’re working on (as I did above).

Provide some sort of service that requires people to link back to you.  It could be simple like free image hosting or something like my Entrecard dropping system.  Get creative and you’ll think of something.

Use the H1, H2, H3 and so on attributes on relevant text on your posts.  It doesn’t even need to be at the top of the post or paragraph.  You can use heading tags anywhere you want bold text that is relevant to the incoming links you’ve built up.

There are a ton of other ways to get plenty of backlinks.  I suggest you do a search on Google for “Link baiting”, and you’ll find a ton of other great suggestion.

Good post but to be honest Pagerank to me is not a big deal. I have been blogging for 9 months now and i have never been given a pagerank, yet every month my traffic and earnings increase.

PR is over rated I believe. I agree with David. Also, paid posts only penalize you if you don’t have a disclosure on your blog. Good info though.

I agree Google PR is a bit over rated, but if you have a high PR you can make a LOT more money on paid links and paid reviews. And Google will penalize you for paid links depending on where the links point regardless if you have a disclosure or privacy policy page.

    Hey Ty,

I just read an interview with Matt Cutts on Eric Enge’s page and Matt stated that you are not penalized for sponsored posts if you have the disclosure page. I blogged about it here: http://teasastipstechniques.blogspot.com/2008/06/are-paid-posts-penalizing-your-blog.html

Yes, but even with all of the work you put into making your site visible by more people, isn’t it like swimming upstream to finally attract an audience who has nothing more to read than how to attract an audience?

There are far too many blogs out there that offer no true value to the reader. How are you working towards being different than the rest?

You have a point, what I do to differentiate myself? Well, I usually offer solid advice, reply to comments (as many as a I can if they warrant a reply), I never censor comments, and I post things like this: http://www.tysblog.com/2008/07/02/trained-goldfish/.

I’m also incredibly quick to help people one-on-one, not many bloggers take the time to do that.

I mean you are right, there’s a ton of bloggers offering the exact same stuff I offer, but I do it with fun style that’s my own. And the fact is, I get a LOT of visits (well maybe not a huge amount, but my traffic is steadily growing - I received over 75,000 page views last month and expect more this month), it would make sense the advice I offer works since it seems to be working for me :d .

There’s a lot of new bloggers in this world with more being added everyday and one of the main things they’re concerned with is driving traffic and monetizing their new blogs. I try to help with that while having a little fun in the process!!!

I prefer using Social Marker to submit posts as it’s more automatic and faster :d
