Technorati - for the newbies

One sure fire way to improve your traffic and readership is to rank well on Technorati.   If you’re not familiar with Technorati, well then you’ve been hiding under a rock the last few years or JUST got into blogging.  Technorati is the authority on the blogsphere. They rank pretty much all the blogs in the world that get more than one hit a day (something like 14,000,000 the last time I read up on it). In addition to providing a ranking system for the blogsphere they will drive traffic to your blog - not a huge amount, but traffic none the less.

Technorati is also a great place to learn about the latest blogging trends, get up to date info on your favorite blog authors, and is a great resource to find awesome blogs you would never have found elsewhere.

If your blog isn’t (although it most likely is) listed you can add it, or claim an already indexed blog by creating an account HERE.

Once you’ve created your account click on the claim blog link and follow the instructions - it’s a snap to do.  If you still have questions I suggest you take a peek at their FAQ to learn more.

Let’s get jiggy with it!!!

Now that you have your blog all claimed you’ll want to increase it’s authority.  Your authority is the number of other blogs that are in their system that have linked back to you, and here’s where this post comes in.

For this to work optimally, you’ll need to first create a similar post to this one (at least this second part).  Be sure to include the instructions I have here so this can spread a bit and everyone knows what to do.

Leave a comment on this post below and include your technorati blog address (it’ll look just like this, but with your blog’s URL at the end: http://www.technorati.com/blogs/www.tysblog.com), and the URL to your new blog post about this little movement.

I will then take all the comments this post receives each day and copy the blogs URL’s from them into the body of the post (I have a nofollow on my comments to discourage spam).  This will instantly give you an authority “vote” from TysBlog.com. The higher your authority, the better, but this is a start or an easy way to add one to your exsisting score. But wait, this can work even more effectivally!!!

I will also visit your technorati profile and add you as one of my favorites - this will help spread the word on your blog within Technorati.  All of you that participate need to do the same for everyone else.  It’s easy to do and we will all benefit from it.

Finally, I will visit all the links left here to the posts that are created about this and copy and pasts those comments here - you need to do the same.  This will take a little work (but really only a little) and will help everyone out a ton.  Think of it as kind of a technorati rank improving chain letter. If we can get ten people to get ten people to get ten people and so on to participate everyone that does could be thrust into the top 10k within a month or two (and that’s an accomplishment- hell, I’m really good at link baiting and my ranks is only 16k and it’s taken five months to get there). Remember to check back on this and all the posts about this regularly to add the new people to your post.

Leave comment here with URL’s to your Technorati blog profile and URL to your post about this.
Add everyone listed to your Technorati Faves.
Copy URL’s from the comments here and from the URL’s from other posts like this and place them in your post (there maybe some links showing up twice, but better extra links than to exclude someone).
Check back and continue to copy the URL’s and add blogs to your faves (I would check back once every few days or so)

That’s it!  Simple, and if we can actually get some people to participate we can all surge ahead in our Technorati rankings!!
